Warwick’s bookstore in La Jolla, California hit the brakes on a scheduled book signing for John Hargrove after video of a drunken, racist rant surfaced online.
And we don’t blame them. Now, we won’t subject to his offensive rant where he uses the n-word repeatedly and senselessly, but if you’d like to see it, you can watch it here.
John Hargrove has been traveling to promote his book, Beneath the Surface, and now its clear what lies beneath this man’s hypocritical exterior.
He’s easy with the racist slurs. And he lies to his friends.
Julie Slavinsky, director of events at the bookstore, says they received several phone calls and emails about the video. She told UT San Diego, “The cancellation is a statement of our feelings about what is in the video.”
Some might say that this video is too old to damage Hargrove’s reputation, but are hate crimes, injustices, and discriminations any less appalling with the passage of time?
Not to mention, his book is about the same time period.
No. Racism has no statute of limitations, and as a public figure hoping to make some quick bucks off his slanderous book, he owes one hell of an apology.
Hargrove book tour isn’t over – but given his racist rantings – it probably should be. Here are the dates and locations of future book signings. Reach out to these vendors and let them know we should not support racism:
