Have plans to visit an aquarium today? Warning you now – don’t be surprised if there are several screaming activists harassing you and your family when you get there.
Why? Today marks the third annual “Empty the Tanks” Day.
Yeah, we know … absurd. People watch one misleading documentary or read one propaganda piece from PETA and overnight they become animal experts who know more about animals than the scientists and veterinarians who actually work with and study them.
The thing is if you look at it logically “Empty the Tanks” Day is the exact same thing as “Kill Captive Animals” Day.
The animals living in institutions like the Georgia Aquarium, SeaWorld and Shedd Aquarium would not be able to survive if returned to the wild at this point. Most are dependent upon human interaction and care and returning them would mean a certain death in almost every case.
What’s even more ridiculous is that PETA and their Empty the Tanks brigade would rather see the animals dead than in the world-class care of zoos and aquariums. And trust us, PETA has no problem killing animals.
I would go to work early, before anyone got there, and I would just kill the animals myself. Because I couldn’t stand to let them go through (other workers abusing the animals.) I must have killed a thousand of them, sometimes dozens every day.” – Ingrid Newkirk, PETA President
They don’t care about the animals’ welfare, only that they aren’t in an aquarium or zoo.
They don’t care about the millions of inspired children that visit these facilities and grow up to be veterinarians, conservationists and scientists.
They don’t care about the countless amount of research that comes from studying animals in such facilities.
They do care about making a scene.
Probably everything we do is a publicity stunt … we are not here to gather members, to please, to placate, to make friends. We’re here to hold the radical line.” – Ingrid Newkirk, PETA President
They will be there, holding their radical line and wishing death upon animals all across the country.
So if you happen to visit a zoo or aquarium and are confronted with animal extremists, just ask them why they want the animals to die?
