Sad news from South Africa.
After rescuers successfully managed to save a beached orca along the coastline near Plettenberg Bay, South Africa on Friday, the whale beached himself on Sunday and died.
The orca was first reported beached Friday night and officials with the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) and members of the public used buckets of water to keep the animal hydrated.
Following numerous efforts, the team of rescuers were able to get the whale to deeper water.
According to eNews Channel Africa, the rescuers had to form a line in the water to prevent the whale from beaching itself again.
The whale was spotted swimming along shore the next morning on Saturday.
Then, sadly, the whale became beached again on Sunday morning, according to Pro Dive Plett’s Facebook post.
