When British scuba diver, Adele Devonshire, lost her underwater camera while diving off the coast of Scotland in July of 2013, she never imagined that she would ever see the camera again.
But in a serendipitous series of events, Devonshire was recently reunited with the camera three years later when it washed ashore in Sweden – 600 miles away from the dive site where it was lost!
Even more astonishing was that it was found in full working condition, even after a three year journey across the North Sea!
The camera was recovered by Lars Mossberg, who found it nestled amongst rocks and seagrass on the shore of a small Swedish island called Gullholmen, in his small town of just 90 people.

He was shocked to find the clearly well-traveled camera in working condition when he brought it home. 400 or so photographs were still saved on the device!
The reunion with the camera was facilitated by the power of the internet when Mossberg posted the pictures from the device on a “Lost at Sea” Facebook group page in attempt to find its owner.

It only took five hours for Devonshire to contact Mossberg, after the pictures he posted were recognized by a friend who was on the Scotland dive with her when she lost it three years earlier.
Imagine her surprise when she saw her pictures from three years ago on a camera long since forgotten!
