While diving around the Farne Islands off of Northumberland in the North Sea, an underwater photographer named Alex Mustard got the seal-fie of a life time. The famous photographer was surprised that the grey seals were so eager to pose for the camera.
Mustard told DailyMail, “This photo was one I never planned to take. This young seal was sneaking up behind me, so I actually turned my camera round to face me so I could see what it was doing in the reflection in the lens. Once I saw the reflection I realised what a funny scene it was and pressed the shutter.”
Another photographer named Spencer Burrows, also had an equally warm experience while diving in the chilly waters. Burrows was approached by a smiling seal with open arms as if it wanted to give him a big hug!
Burrows commented on his exciting experience saying, “It was a wonderful moment, one of my best in ten years of diving. This individual was really interacting with me and kept coming in really close. It was really relaxed and definitely seeking attention. As soon as I saw the image on the back of the camera it made me smile and I knew I’d managed to capture the character of these highly charismatic animals.”
Not only did Burrows image win our hearts, but it also won an award at the Dive show at the NEC in Birmingham.
We wonder how he Seal-abrated… ?
