Lobsters are some of the coolest crustaceans in the ocean… and the tastiest too!
What some people might not know is that lobsters can come in a variety of colors. Many fisherman have reported seeing blue, yellow, orange, white, and NOW… even multicolored.
Thanks to Capt. Chad Graham, based out of Brier Island, we can now safely add rainbow lobster to the list. Graham caught the extremely rare specimen last year. According to CBC, a car dealership in Nova Scotia is holding the 1st Annual “Craziest Crustacean” photo contest, where the pretty pincher is currently the favorite to win.
The colorful crustacean has been nicknamed the “Technicolor Dream Lobster,” and Capt. Graham hauled it in off the shore of St. Mary’s Bay. NO WORRIES! The lobster was not harmed, but posed for a quick photo op before being gently released back into the water. Luckily for the lovely lobster, it was a little too short for a regulation catch. Apparently, Canada’s Department of Fisheries and Ocean requires that lobsters must have a body length of at least 3.25 inches.
Due to the hustle and bustle of a day’s work, Capt. Graham didn’t actually get a chance to admire the perfectly purple and iridescent shine of the lost catch until he got home. So far the photo has gotten over a thousand likes and is competing against over a hundred different crazy crustaceans. From calico-colored lobsters to albino lobsters, it’s definitely going to be a close competition.
Our fingers are crossed for Capt. Graham, after all there is a $500 gift card on the line… and maybe he’ll share.
