These tourists are totally kissing and telling!
Off the coast of the Mexican state Baja California Sur, a group of grey whales graced several whale watching tours with their presence. An onlooker from another boat caught the”intimate” grey whale momemt on camera and posted it to social media.
The social cetacean swam right up to the boat and then popped it’s head out of the water to say “hello.” I guess you could say things got pretty serious when the American tourist (in the white hat) leaned over the side of the boat to steal a smooch.
Oddly enough, the grey whale enjoyed the loving attention and puckered up for another kiss.
Magdalena Bay is a popular destination for whale watching groups, since the warm Mexican waters are natural breeding grounds. Every year, between January and March, the critically endangered whale species swims the 6,000 miles from Alaska to mate.
According to a recent BBC article, researchers believe that whales used to fear boats and associated them with hunters. However, since whale hunting is practically non-existent today, social interactions like these happen much more frequently.
