Scottsdale Arizona is getting it’s own wet oasis in the midst of the dry, desert heat. It’s preparing to welcome thousands of new visitors this fall for the grand opening of The OdySea Aquarium: An Ocean Adventure.
The 14-acre aquarium is set to open its doors to the public early this fall, and plans to accommodate up to 15,000 visitors daily.
Built with the intent to entertain as well as educate, the aquarium was designed with theme park qualities in an effort to create a unique experience unlike any other.
Construction has been going on for over a year now, prepping the space for two million gallons of water and 200 tons of salt to house the 10,000 sea animals that will be living in OdySea’s 200,000-square feet of space. OdySea will be among the largest aquariums in the nation!
Visitors can expect to be greeted by giant, spherical tanks hanging from the ceiling when they enter the lobby – each full of colorful schools of fish!

If you’re really looking to be immersed in the aquarium experience, the lobby restrooms will have a floor to ceiling acrylic wall looking right into the shark exhibit!
OdySea will also be home to America’s largest butterfly atrium! Take a break from admiring butterflies, fish, and petting penguins (yes, you can pet penguins) and grab lunch at The Lighthouse Cafe, which features a 28-foot lighthouse.
So, what are you waiting for? Let’s go!
