The Animal Rescue Team at SeaWorld Orland has had a an exciting week! They rescued a manatee from a storm drain, and now we’re hearing that they are currently providing 24/7 care to a male bottlenose dolphin. The mammal was brought to the Rehabilitation Center after it was found stranded in Sanibel, Florida. The dolphin is about 7-foot long and weighs close to 205-pounds.
The dolphin arrived at SeaWorld early Wednesday morning around 12:15 a.m. The facility’s veterinarians and rescuers immediately began treating the dolphin by giving him fluids, antibiotics, and conducted a complete health assessment. SeaWorld officials reported that the dolphin’s condition has stabilized since they started monitoring him around-the-clock.
Another positive sign, it appears that the dolphin is a strong swimmer! With high hopes, the team continues to remain cautiously-optimistic, and they fingers are crossed for further improvement.
