This female sea lion was recently filmed on a beach in South Australia looking as content as ever. While her other sea lion pals look awfully sleepy, this gal is enjoying rolling around in the sand and finding an adorable way to scratch her back.
Sea lions are known for being swift swimmers, adept deep-water divers, exceptional aquatic hunters and excellent surfers. Their lives consist of a constant rhythm: be cute, swim out of danger, chase, eat, frolic, sleep, breed and repeat.
Their extremely flexible as well. A sea lion’s flexible pelvic girdle allows it to move easily on land because its rotating back flippers underneath its body almost allow them to walk like other land mammals. This flexibility allows any itch to be scratched!
When sea lions are not out fishing, they can be found chillin’ on sandy, flat beaches or rocks. They use the beaches to warm up, dry out, and rest up for their next trip to sea!
