In 2016, SeaWorld San Diego announced that they were going to offer new and improved all-natural Orca Encounter Shows starting in the beginning of Summer 2017. The brand new concept, Orca Encounter, made its debut on Thursday, June 1.
Despite what opinions you may have on SeaWorld, they are an AZA accredited facility. The Association of Zoos and Aquariums recognizes institutions that meet the highest professional standards for animal welfare, scientific education and staff training. And Awesome Ocean supports all AZA accredited facilities.
These new shows have backed away from the previous “glitz and glam” theoretical encounters most guests have seen in years past, and have been replaced with more documentary style experiences, but with a fun and exciting atmosphere for people of all ages to enjoy. Everything about this new orca experience focuses on orca enrichment, exercise, and overall health.
Ocean Explorer is another new addition that has made its way into SeaWorld San Diego. This theme park is full of rides and other fun attractions that also give education to the park guests. Ocean Explorer consists of 5 different rides, ranging from roller coasters to swings, and even an underwater adventure where you can have “encounters” with different sea life!
SeaWorld San Diego wants to make learning fun and exciting by giving their guests the most memorable experience possible. They want every guest to be able to appreciate all wildlife by educating people of all ages. While visiting, check out the Animal Exhibits that are also located in Ocean Explorer! Be able to have a one-on-one experience with an octopus, crabs and eels!

These majestic creatures will live long and healthy lives under love and care of SeaWorld’s dedicated veterinary team and other trained specialists where they can inspire this and future generations to be conservationists around the world through natural presentations that are fun, exciting and will educate guests about the plight of orcas in the wild.
