Duke is located in Durham, North Carolina, was founded in 1838, and is a private institution. They offer an undergraduate degree in biology with a concentration in marine biology. A contributor to its success is its 45 research laboratories that help students excel in their studies. Aside from the concentration, they also offer a Masters and Doctorate in marine biology or marine conservation biology.
2. Boston University
Boston University offers a program referred to as BUMP (Boston University Marine Program). This school also has a full “marine semester” that goes into depth of the marine biology courses. The topics of these courses range from biomimicry, ocean exploration, marine conservation, and functional genomics. Unlike other schools, they do not offer masters or doctorate degrees.
3. The University of Maine
What makes this school unique is the 30 professors that specialize in marine sciences. This is the largest concentration of experts in the state and clearly one of the best in the nation.
