A cavoodle (a cavalier king charles spaniel and poodle mix) and a group of dolphins have combined to make a dream team of cuteness. The pup’s family, Greg and Lee Grainger, like to spend time on the water with their dog, Braandi. One day when the family was out on their boat, Braandi decided to take a dip; but her parents became concerned when a pod of dolphins surrounded her. Luckily the dolphins came to play, and she was happy to oblige.
Now Braandi has had many encounters with her new pals! Lee said that Braandi “absolutely loves them.” Fortunately for us, the Graingers’ neighbor eventually filmed the adorable interaction. The Graingers did NOT expect what happened next. Braandi and her aquatic friends became internet sensations!
Krista Nicholson, a researcher at Murdoch University, weighed in on the adorable play dates. According to her, it’s not particularly surprising to see the dolphins interacting with the pup. Dolphins are known for being curious and playful, and they seem to take an interest in pretty much whatever happens to be in their space. She even knows of other dogs who jump into canals to play with dolphins!
As far as Braandi goes, she seems to have a bright future ahead of her. Her family intends to nurture her friendship with the dolphins, so she will continue to have aquatic playdates hopefully for as long as her dolphin pals are willing.
