Well, here’s the scoop!
Sea Otter Awareness Week (or SOAW) began in 2002 to help raise awareness of the important role that sea otters play in maintaining a healthy nearshore ecosystem. Zoos, aquariums, marine institutes, educators, the public etc… take part in events and activities that highlight this vital role every year. Another major component of SOAW is focusing on the issues that threaten the sea otters’ way of life and informing people of how they can help reduce these impacts.
