A lobster with a tattoo? That can’t be right, well this lobster does have a tattoo, but not by choice. The lobster in question seems to have been branded by a Pepsi can.
The lobster was caught off the coast of Grand Manan, New Brunswick.
Karissa Lindstrand is a fisherman who has been banded lobsters for years. She has seen a lot of weird claws, but this was a first. The claw had the image of a Pepsi symbol on it. Otherwise the lobster looked normal according to Lindstrand, “It looked just like a regular lobster. Once I check it over and make sure it is legal, I pay more attention to the claws and getting a band put on it. I just happened to notice a blue picture, and got looking at it closer and it was a Pepsi can.”
This could be an indicator of just how much human garbage there is in our ocean. The trash is literally branding our sea life with our logos. Luckily the lobster didn’t seem to be harmed by the tattoo, but usually a marine interaction with our trash ends badly. So many animals have been found dead with the cause of death being trash. Hopefully this is the wakeup call we need to change our ways.
