A baby manatee named Brownee is now being treated at the Miami Seaquarium after being rescued by a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation (FWC) team.
The sick little sea cow was rescued near Port Everglades in Florida. Erik Neugaa, the environmental manager with the port’s seaport engineering and facilities maintenance division, noticed the distressed animal and contacted FWC.
News source Click Orlando says that FWC workers had help from the Broward Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol when they pulled the manatee from the water. Mr. Bubble, as the FWC workers named him, was found in a channel located behind the port’s administration building.
Miami Seaquarium says the baby manatee is about five months old. They have since renamed him Brownee. They say since the rescue Brownee has been making improvements under their care. He is eating well and receiving antibiotics. They expect him to remain at the facility until next winter.
We’re rooting for you, Brownee!
