The Seacoast Science Center Marine Mammal Reuse team received a call on Monday, March 5 that there was a seal in the road on Route 286 near Brown’s Lobster Pound in Seabrook, New Hampshire.
At arrival, the seal appeared to be unnourished and needed to be cared for.
The Facebook post states “he was thin, very lethargic, coughing, sneezing (and) had very loose stool with copious blood in it.”
The rescue team managed to direct the seal to the Brown’s Lobster Pound parking lot where they were able to capture the seal and take it to the National Marine Life Center.
On Wednesday, rescuers said the seal’s condition is improving but does have a long way to go.
If anyone finds marine animal either alive or dead in New Hampshire or Northern Massachusetts, they are asked to keep away and call SSC’s 24-hour hotline at 603-997-9448.
