We all know that dolphins turn half of their brain off while sleeping, well maybe not all of us, but most ocean enthusiasts are aware of that fact. But do you guys know how manatees sleep?
Let us tell you, if you didn’t think manatees are the most stinking cute ocean animal there is, then you will now.
Manatees sleep UPSIDE DOWN 🙃
As you may know, manatees are mammals, which means they have to come to the surface to breathe every three to four minutes. So how do they sleep you may ask?
Well, when it’s time for bed manatees’ heart rates and breathing slow down – this allows them to only have to surface for air every 20 minutes.
Now, not all manatees sleep on their back all the time. Manatees are very similar to humans, where they change positions, one of the most popular ones being back down, face up.
