At the Aquarium of Niagara, a new addition to their facilities is coming soon. A jellyfish exhibit is scheduled to begin construction in May to create an awesome exhibit focusing on some of the most interesting animals in the ocean.
The project will allow the aquarium to house jellyfish on a permanent basis for the first time in its 53 year history. Executive Director Gary Siddall had this to say about the $440,000 project, “It’s exciting and that’s actually part of the new direction that we are taking the aquarium. We’re trying really hard to embrace change, to embrace innovative opportunities to bring in new animals to the collection. It’s very consistent with the forward-moving direction that we’ve been able to celebrate over the course of the last few years.”
Around 50 to 70 jellyfish will be brought in. If you have a chance, then you should check out this exhibit. Or if this one is too far, look for jellyfish exhibit that is closer to home because these animals are really something to see. They are not only beautiful but also live a unique life that has fascinated scientists for decades. One extremely exciting feature is their ability to regrow limbs that have been removed, as well as being able to rearrange their tentacles to create a more symmetric body while they are in the process of healing their limbs.
