You might remember Aku and Ginger, two walrus calves that have been living at SeaWorld for a while.
Ginger was born at SeaWorld in June. Aku joined her after being found in Alaska. He was found at a gold mining dredge, but was really too young to be returned to the wild. Without his mother, it was unlikely that he would survive the harsh realities of the ocean. The US Fish and Wildlife Service decided to send the young calf to SeaWorld.
The decision was mostly based on the fact that Ginger was already there. Since they are about the same age, it was hoped that the two could become friends. They did become friends, best friends, and have been enjoying each other’s company since Aku’s arrival.
Now it is time for them to join the adult walrus enclosure at SeaWorld. The young walruses will join two adult Pacific walruses named Garfield and Kaboodle. The four animals will likely enjoy the extra company.
If you get a chance, then you should go look at this adorable little family of animals. Their habitat has been recently remodeled to ensure that you can enjoy the view from every angle.
