An unlikely pair of sea otters have become an adorable duo at the Oregon Zoo.
A recently rescued sea otter pup, Lincoln, was found on the California coast. Apparently, he was orphaned by his mother. At such a young age, it is unlikely that he would be able to survive on his own in the wild.
Eddie is a geriatric sea otter that has been living at the Oregon Zoo since he was rescued from the California coast as an orphan.
The similar stories seemed to have bonded the pair to each other. Lincoln joined Eddie in the enclosure about six months and has been helping the 20-year-old sea otter to stay active in his old age. When Lincoln first arrived, the staff thought that he would avoid the older otter. The opposite happened! According to the zoo’s senior marine life keeper, Nicole Nicassio-Hiskey, “He swam directly over to Eddie and went right up to him.”
The young otter seems to have helped rejuvenate Eddie in his golden years.
The two otters spend all of their time together. They wrestle, play, nap and splash together. It really is an adorable pair of sea otters. If you get the chance, try to visit these two in person!
