A dog walker on St Mary’s Bay, England made a horrifying discovery earlier this summer. He found a dead porpoise stuffed into a suitcase.
The walker, Chris Perkins, takes the same walk every day so the suitcase had to have washed up within the last 24 hours. The suitcase was spotted by the seawall near the parking lot in the early morning hours.
He had this to say about the discovery, “It was very weird. The suitcase was already open. As soon as I got up to that end of the car park, I saw something stuck out the grass. Someone had put it on top of the seawall near the pathway, and lots of people walk that way. It had been dead a long time. It was really awful.”
It would have been an awful encounter for anyone. Perkins called the police that had a difficult time sorting out the identity of the animal at first. The situation is very unusual. The animal was inside the suitcase which indicated human involvement, but why would someone stuff a dead animal into a suitcase?
It is a very unsettling situation, but so far nothing has been uncovered about the origins of the case.
