A whale-watching cruise was treated to the show of a lifetime after waiting anxiously to spot a whale. A gigantic humpback whale breached amazingly close to the tour group this July. The whale was less than 50 meters from the boat when it flew into the air and left the cruise patrons in awe, and perhaps a bit startled.
Avid whale-watcher and photographer John Goodridge managed to capture the stunning display from another boat. Goodridge said, “it all happened so quickly. We’d been waiting to see a whale all morning, and all of a sudden this one jumps up in front of everyone. The people in the boat were just so excited. You can see it on their faces. It’s a mix of excitement, shock and fear”. Simon Millar operated the cruise through his small family business ‘Go Whale Watching’ in Sydney. Goodridge and all those onboard Millar’s cruise were treated to a truly special encounter. Goodridge stated, “it’s just a beautiful and unforgettable experience”.
