Orcas were originally referred to as “whale killers” by sailors who witnessed pods hunting larger cetaceans. Over time, this name changed to killer whales.
Earlier this month, a group of fisherman got a unique view of how these “wolves of the sea” got their name as they reign across the ocean.
Youngbloods Spearfishing, a company of fishermen who travel around Australia’s coastline hunting big fish, happened to be at the right place at the right time to film this captivating event.
The group pulled up to a favorite spearfishing spot right off the coast of North Western Australia and bumped into a pod of orcas that were about midway through hunting a humpback whale calf.
Look closely! You can see a group of sharks co-feeding with the orcas.
According to the Youtube video description, the group hung back relied on a GoPro to capture the best footage they could.

Like the fishermen said, this is a clip of nature at it’s rawest.
