Now that PETA has been banned by law in Virginia from all their puppy-killing, they decided to try to hijack SeaWorld’s Twitter feed this past week. The onslaught of hate followed the announcement that SeaWorld was launching a new year-long ad campaign to combat the misinformation being pumped out by the activists-industrial-complex.
The AskSeaWorld website is designed to allow people to constructively interact with and pose questions to SeaWorld via Twitter. SeaWorld states they would be collecting constructive questions and comments for animal experts to answer. According to the company, it’s an ongoing process and was never meant to be a live question and answer session.
Seeing as PETA and friends don’t actually do anything to help animals, the army of Twitter trolls and cyber-bullies flooded Twitter with hate. This drowned out any chance for regular, normal folks to interact with SeaWorld and have their legitimate questions and concerns handled.
It’s no surprise that animal rights activists, led most notably by PETA, have inundated Twitter to try to deny people with real questions a chance to have their questions answered. A full 70 percent of the questions thus far have come from PETA and other animal rights groups or bots. It’s unfortunate that these people would try to drown out thoughtful and honest answers by flooding social media with repeated questions and troll accounts.
When SeaWorld announced their new advertisement campaign last week, they said this was going to be a long-term effort. It seems they are sticking to it.
Good for them.
As time goes on the message will get out and at some point, real people understand that the cyber attacks, death threats and bullying is happening for a reason. It’s because when you have no credible argument, people just start screaming louder.
One thing is certain, there are far more reasonable people out their than unhinged activists and PETA puppy-killers. We applaud SeaWorld’s commitment to interacting with folks on social media and their efforts to set the record straight.
