Have you ever wondered what it’s like to stare down a great white shark? Ask Greg Skomal, a researcher with the Massachusetts Division of Marine and Fisheries. He was tagging great whites off the southern shore of Cape Cod on Monday when a female great white swam up to his Gopro and showed off her pearly whites.
Skomal is one of the top shark scientists in Massachusetts and has shot hundreds of great white videos, but this marked the first time one has chomped down on his camera. He told New England Cable News that the shark’s movement was a little unusual, pointing out that the shark could have easily destroyed the camera. The shark’s intentions were more out of curiosity than trying to find lunch.
