According to a press release from Aquarium of the Pacific, Charlie lives a luxurious little otter life. “He has a luxurious coat, eats more than $15,000 a year in restaurant-quality seafood, has many adoring fans, and had his 21st birthday bash this afternoon. But life for Charlie wasn’t always this way.”
Before being treated like the king that he is at the aquarium, Charlies was an otter in need of some help. He was stranded, rescued, and deemed non-releasable to the wild before arriving to the Aquarium. He is the oldest sea otter in any aquarium or zoo and possibly in the world. If it wasn’t for places like Aquarium of the Bay, Charlie would have not lived long enough in the wild to see his 21st birthday.
