Earlier this month, a mother duck was separated from her ducklings. Several of the baby ducks were seen stuck in the bottom of a storm drain, while the mother and a single duckling waited nervously at the edge of the drain.
The incident happened at Loveland Ling Planet Aquarium. An employee saw one of the baby ducklings fall into the drain shortly after arriving to work. The employee inspected the storm drain more closely and found that there were many more ducklings trapped below. The fire department was called upon to rescue these adorable ducklings.
Draper City Fire Department teamed up with the Salt Lake Animal Control unit to rescue the young ducks. After arriving quickly, the firefighters filled a nearby storm drain with water. The increasing water level caused the ducklings to be swept to another storm drain where they could be more easily rescued.
Once the ducks were in the second drain, it took no time at all to pull these ducklings out of the water. After all the babies were collected, the mother duck swam off as if nothing strange had just happened.
Although it could have ended badly, the officials were able to help this young family of ducks to safety.
