When you save a stranded manatee, who do you call?
Not GhostBusters! You call the experts at SeaWorld!
On Sunday, November 23, a Chambers County Sheriff spotted a stranded manatee in the waters of Trinity Bay, Texas.
The Texas Marine Mammal Stranded Network, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Chambers County Sheriff of Marine Units partnered up to help get the stranded gentle giant out of the bay.
The manatee was suffering from the decrease in water temperatures in the area. They moved the poor guy to a warm water tank in Galveston, Texas, where the experts from SeaWorld San Antonio began taking care of him.
It was determined that the best option for the manatee’s health would be to transfer him to the warmer waters of Tampa, Florida.
SeaWorld San Antonio is leading the efforts to transport the manatee to a warmer and safer home.
