What would you do if you were at a normal party, walked down to the basement to grab a drink and found a tank full of sharks? It would definitely be a shock to find 10 sharks in a pool, especially with 3 of them dead. Of the ten total sharks, seven sandbar sharks were found alive, two leopard sharks were found dead and one hammerhead shark was also found dead.
The sharks were found in a pool inside someone’s basement in New York’s Hudson Valley. The tank had a 15-foot diameter and was basically just an indoor above ground pool. The pool was discovered while officers were searching a home in Dutchess County.
According to officials, the sharks were all between 2 feet and 4 feet. Wildlife biologists took blood samples and tagged the sharks before sending them to the Long Island Aquarium in a well-equipped truck containing water tanks and climate control.
If these animals were obtained illegally charges, then whoever was in possession of these sharks would face charges. As of now, the investigation is ongoing and no one has been charged. There are many questions are to how these sharks ended up in someone’s basement.
