A 220-pound turtle was found trapped upside down under tree roots on an idyllic island in Queensland.
A group of tourists were heading to Lady Musgrave Island on a boat named Emilie when Gillian Thomas, a tourist, found the turtle after hearing ‘loud flapping noises.’
The turtle was trapped due to flipping upside when she got trapped under the tree roots. Tour Guide Marc led the rescue mission as the tourists rushed to tend to the turtle.
‘What we will try to do is pull her up and turn her over and once we’ve turned her over, we will get her in the water.’ said Tour Guide Marc. ‘She probably won’t have a lot of strength, that’s her problem, so if we can get her out in the water that will help her big time.’
The group managed to pick up the turtle, flip her over, and release her into the water.
