The National Aquarium of New Zealand is teaching their rowdy little penguins a lesson in behavior for the second month in a row. Every month, the aquarium picks a naughty penguin and a good penguin of the month from their squad of little blue penguins. The good penguin receives praise and treats, while the bad penguin gets shamed by the whole internet.
According to the aquarium, although they only shared June’s “winners”, the little blue penguin keepers have been naming a good and naughty penguin for about three months.
June’s “naughtiest” penguin was named Timmy, who was caught on camera multiple times trying to steal fish during feeding times. Betty took the crown as the “good” penguin of the month for her fantastic swimming (which she loves to do all day!) and patient behavior when it comes to waiting for fish.
Now, the aquarium has announced this month’s naughty penguin, Pepper, who is a bit of a diva. She is very finicky with her food and who feeds her. If something is slightly different with the fish or someone different feeds her, she drops her food on the ground or just nibble at it.
This month’s good penguin is Captain. Captain is always first to the feeding station, eats his fish, then continues back home or goes for a swim with his girlfriend, Flip.
