Did you know that it’s Sea Otter Awareness Week?
Do you know what that means?
Do you know why this week exists?
Yeah, we thought that might be the case.
Well, here’s the scoop!
Sea Otter Awareness Week (or SOAW) began in 2002 to help raise awareness of the important role that sea otters play in maintaining a healthy nearshore ecosystem. Zoos, aquariums, marine institutes, educators, the public etc… take part in events and activities that highlight this vital role every year. Another major component of SOAW is focusing on the issues that threaten the sea otters’ way of life and informing people of how they can help reduce these impacts.
So, now you know! Please take a minute to check out the official SOAW web page and see how you can help!
