Brace yourselves, a whale watching tour managed to get their money’s worth on a recent expedition. Trust us, breaches don’t get much more majestic than this:
Earlier this week, River Cruises out of Virginia Beach embarked on a 2-hour tour. Unlike Gilligan, the whale watching boat did actually make it home BUT not before encountering 8-12 humpback whales.
The magnificent ocean mammals were frolicking and playing in the ocean… obviously they were encouraged by the cheers and chants coming from the boat. The humpbacks can be seen completely breaching out of the water. YES! That’s right. The oceanic giants were jumping completely out of the water. That’s quite a feat for the underwater heavyweight. The cetacean’s show also included waving with their flukes, or the underside of their tails.
Mike Kane told Norfolk TV station WTKR, “For most of the cruise, we were literally surrounded by whales, (and) some were surfacing very close to the boat.”
How about them humpbacks. The cheering and squeals coming from the boat definitely do the exciting encounter justice!
