SeaWorld San Antonio has some exciting plans in store for its 2017 season opening, which is taking place on February 25th. With new attractions and an exhilarating new ride to offer, guests – both new and returning – are sure to be challenged to ever be bored this season.
The highlight of the season opening will be the appearance of celebrated marine wildlife artist and conservationist Guy Harvey, who will be revealing his newest mural at the Great White exhibit. All we know of the mural is that it will feature three White Sharks, and we can be sure that it will be in the inspiring, iconic style that belongs to Guy Harvey alone.
After the reveal, he will stick around to greet guests and sign his well-known signature on his signature clothing line, artwork, or whatever else guests and fans would like. Proceeds from this event will go towards the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation, which supports marine research and conservation efforts. His partnership with SeaWorld is a productive one, mutually increasing awareness of ocean conservation issues, such as ocean health and the plight of sharks around the world.
This summer will also mark the opening of a brand new ride at SeaWorld San Antonio – the exhilarating jet-ski style ride dubbed Wave Breaker: The Rescue Coaster, where guests will be propelled along a track on jet-skis for “rescue” missions. Park President Carl Lum promises that, “2017 will be an epic year for visitors to SeaWorld San Antonio.” Continuing, he says that they “have looked at every portion of the SeaWorld experience and come up with new and innovative ideas to connect, engage and delight our guests in ways that are sure to have them returning throughout the year for multiple visits and experiences.” Guy Harvey will be returning to the park this summer for the opening of Wave Breaker.
In addition to these attractions, many other festivities will be taking place at the Park. Jungle Jack Hanna will also be making an appearance, and guests can meet him along with themed festivities during “Wild Days”. New featured shows include Texas Untamed, a brand new SeaWorld Live show, and other standard favorites like the open-air bird of prey Flying High.
On select dates from April 21st – May 29th, the Park will host Seven Seas Food & Wine Festival, where a world of flavors will be on offer to visitors. Global fusion food, craft beers, and select wine will lead guests around the Park. A new beluga and dolphin based show called Ocean Discovery: Dolphins and Beluga Whales will captivate guests with the lives and natural habits of beluga whales, Pacific white-sided dolphins, and colorful macaws.
