Ventana Surf Co. Makes Waves for Ocean Conservation
Here at Awesome Ocean, we are all about the protecting our seas and the marine life within it. And when we come across amazing organizations that share our love of the ocean we like to dote on them for a minute.
Ventana Surf Co., it’s your turn for some lovin’!
The California based surfboard and supplies shop was established to provide surfers with equipment that was derived using natural and environmentally friendly methods.
Ventana has developed products ranging from surf boards, to t-shirts, to coffee mugs.
Now, they have added another product to their inventory that is not only made using eco-friendly material but is actually made from material that has already been littered along the coastlines.
The owners of Ventana had the idea to make natural candles for surfers to burn after a vigorous day of wave catching. They went through many ideas of what type of candles to sell, if they should make them or buy them and simply add their logo.
Then, a lightbulb went off and someone proposed that they make candles by recycling glass bottles gathered from different beaches.
And that’s just what they’ve done.
Through volunteers, donations and the help of other conservation organizations, Ventana now carries a line of wax candles in jars made out of recycled glass bottles.
Pretty neat, right?
