The Assiniboine Park & Zoo Welcomes Cetus & Camrose

Cetus and Camrose are two rescued harbor seals from the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Mammal Rescue Center that have recently moved to their new home at Assiniboine Park & Zoo. Upon their completion of a standard 30-day quarantine, they joined the other seals in the Journey to Churchill exhibit.

Rescued when they were less than a week old, Cetus and Camrose were deemed non-releasable. The seal’s health issues severely restrict their ability to do the basic necessities such as hunting and caring for themselves. While living at the Marine Mammal Rescue Center for eleven months, Cetus and Camrose received rehabilitative care. While at the Assiniboine Park Zoo, the zoo’s veterinary team will continue to monitor them and provide the long-term care that will benefit the seals’ health needs and allow them to live a long and happy life.
