Animals’ March Madness Picks Are Better Than Yours

A lot of us are looking at our NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament brackets and thinking to ourselves – an animal probably could have done a better jobs picking teams.

Well the good folks at the Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium in Omaha, Nebraska did just that.

From Omaha.com’s Chris Peters report:

About 60 animals from more than 40 species around the Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium chose teams in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship. Animals named Curious, Mr. T, Godzilla and Einstein, among many others, made the picks, prophesying that, for the first time ever, a 16 seed will topple a No. 1 seed. The animals were bold enough not only to predict that historic event, but to call for it to occur three times.

Of course, the bracketologists roaming the pens at the zoo use a less-than-scientific procedure for picking teams. Different animals have different ways of picking winners, but each was motivated by some form of challenging and stimulating enrichment over the past few days. For instance, rabbits picked between team-branded portions of lettuce.
