Baby Walrus Squashes Polar Bear’s Scheme

Imagine you’re on the coast of Norway.

It’s a sunny afternoon and it’s meal time! But as one polar bear found it, things don’t always go according to plan.

In this series of photos you can see the sneaky polar bear trying to creep up on a herd of walruses, but one of the pups saw him and ended his scheme! The entire herd rushes into the water before the polar bear can pounce, and protect the pups from his hunger.

A polar bear’s diet usually consist of only seals. These photographs were taken by a wildlife photographer in Svalbard, Norway who said this type of attack is not normal for a polar bear. They usually wait patiently near holes in the ice and wait for their prey to come up for air.

This attempt at an entire herd was risky, and the polar bear learned his lesson!
