Dying 6-Year-Old’s Wish Comes True at SeaWorld

Many people dream of swimming with dolphins, but when a dying 6-year-old girl’s wildest dreams come true it makes our hearts melt.

Addie Fausett, a little girl from Utah, stopped gaining weight and when her parents took her to the doctor the outcome would prove to be any parent’s worst nightmare.

Addie’s undiagnosable condition is deteriorating her brain and left her with less than a year to live.

As Christmas approached this year, her grandparents wanted her to receive enough Christmas cards to last a lifetime.

They went to the public for help and Addie’s story quickly went viral.

People from around the globe came together and sent Miss Addie over 300,000 cards and enough donations for the local police department to put together a once in a lifetime trip to fulfill her dreams.

Addie and her family went to the beach, the San Diego Zoo and topped it all off with a visit to SeaWorld to play with the dolphins.

She had a blast petting the dolphins but the San Diego SeaWorld staff decided they could do better. They put little Addie into a wetsuit and took her into the dolphin pool so she could get up close and personal.

Tami Fausett, Addie’s mom, described the experience. “She doesn’t smile as much anymore. To see her smile was wonderful. She doesn’t speak anymore, but as her mother, I knew she loved it.”

We understand the want to experience the magic of the ocean and are thankful that there are institutions, like SeaWorld, that can give these experiences to people, especially those like Addie that deserve them so much.
