Donald Glover said, “Careers very rarely are a waste of time.”
That doesn’t apply when it comes to PETA – reigning champs of wasting your donations on anything but animals.
You see, PETA is hiring! Not veterinarians or biologists. Aww heck no. That would mean they actually would have to help an animal.
They are hiring “investigators” that they would like to have lie their way into various zoos, animal parks and other organizations to ostensibly capture animal abuse on video.
Here’s the crux of the problem – they are required to actually obtain employment in order to gain access. And, they would also have to actually capture video proving something.
We suppose if one got beyond the lies and dirty dealings – it could be a noble cause. But let’s be honest. All PETA trades in is lies and dirty dealings. They certainly do not have a record of actually looking out for animals.
The truth behind the “investigative” effort is manipulation. That’s what your donations get you. It’s about finding new sensational stunts to raise more money to do more sensational stunts.
Animals be damned.
Not sure about you, but we haven’t seen any positive propaganda from PETA that says, “We went undercover and found all this awesomeness.”
As it was reported earlier this year, a PETA investigator shared video from a dairy farm in North Carolina, but the Department of Agriculture found their claims of abuse and mistreatment to be false during an independent evaluation. Many other dairy farmers saw the video and were quick to point out that it was false.
The salary for this position isn’t listed. But let’s imagine this position offers $30,000 a year. That could cover the spay/neuter fee for more than 850 animals.
That would be a much more productive use of that money, which could be coming from animal loving donors.
We can only guess which companies this person would be targeting, but we know it’s NOT ethical to get a job for someone you intend to sabotage. And if you slander your employer, or breach confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements, those reckless actions go from irresponsible to illegal.
So next time a “documentary” shows up in your Netflix suggestions that claims to expose an industry, consider that the filmmaker is a hired hand, and might not have the right intentions or information.
You may also want to do a little more research on an organization before you donate to their “cause” to make sure your cash isn’t being used to create biased documentaries or pay celebrity spokespersons.
