A (Short) TED Talk You’ve Got To See

Members of David Gallo’s audience “oohed” and “ahhed” as footage of neon bioluminescence, a color-shifting cuttlefish, and a camouflaging octopus filled the screen. Gallo, an oceanographer, was invited to give a TED Talk on “Underwater Astonishments” at a conference in 2007, and thousands of people are still enjoying his insight into the sea today.

It also happens to be a plus that Gallo’s jokes are actually funny. Check it out.

Our oceans are fully of exciting and mostly unknown creatures. As Gallo said, we have explored only 3% of the underwater world. Marine biologists, oceanographers, and sea-minded folk are consistently surprised by what nature hides in its depths.
