Six Flags Great Adventure & Safari Welcomes First Sea Lion Pup

On June 25th, 2014, America’s largest theme park, Six Flags Great Adventure & Safari in Jackson, New Jersey, welcomed their first sea lion pup.

They named the pup Kona and he became the fifth Sea Lion at the park, quickly capturing the hearts of the animal care team and guests alike.

At only 4 days old and weighing about 18 pounds, Kona began to use his flippers and call out to his mother. His mother, Anoki, is doing a great job nursing her newborn pup to the park’s delight.

The Animal Care team recently took a camera into the water with Kona and Anoki as as the mother-son duo learned the ins-and-outs of swimming for the first time.

What’s next for the little guy?

Teething.

Guests visiting Six Flags Great Adventure & Safari can see Kona and Anoki daily at the Seafari Theater and the underwater viewing area.
