Spongebob Characters and Their Animal Twins

Can you believe Spongebob Squarepants has been on the air for 15 years?

That’s right. The series premiered in July 1999, and takes place in a small town called Bikini Bottom in the Pacific Ocean.

Now, we know sea creatures don’t really keep pets, work in fast food restaurants, or go to the “beach” to play volleyball. But Spongebob did open our eyes to ocean life, and has entertained us for years.

Just for fun, here’s a look at the main characters and their real-life counterparts.

Let’s start, as we should, with Spongebob:

Ok, so in many cases we’ll admit the characters look nothing like they animals they’re modeled after, but let’s agree both version are pretty cute!
