Video: Surfers Receive a Pleasant Surprise

Imagine paddling out to catch some waves only to realize there’s a massive whale and her calf right underneath you.

Several surfers got this special surprise in Avalon Beach, Australia while paddling in the waters around Bangalley Headland. One of those surfers, Andrew Lange, was able to dip his camera right into the water beneath him to capture the footage of a gorgeous Southern Right Whale and her calf swimming near the group of surfers.

Talk about a surprise!

What’s also notable about this encounter is how the surfers kept a safe and respectable distance away from the whales. It is important to remember that we need to keep wild whales wild, and to always give these amazing animals their space even when you have a chance encounter.
