These octopus definitely catch a lot of attention and we are willing to bet it’s because they’re so darn cute.
Last March, the above image went viral when Caribbean pygmy octopuses were born at Mote’s Aquarium in Sarasota, Florida.
And now they’re back.
A few weeks ago, more than twenty of these adorable and incredibly tiny babies were born.
Below is a picture of the octopus eggs before they hatched. They are very difficult to see now that they are born, let alone have their pictures taken.

This is because Caribbean pygmy octopuses are nocturnal, experts at camouflage and overall like keeping to themselves.
Mote Aquarium Biologist Brian Siegel said, “It was luck that I had the adults in a group of five males and two females so they could breed — we can’t recognize the females until they lay eggs,” He continued, “It’s also important that we had the conditions just right for these animals to thrive. We’ve really been working at this.”
Well, congratulations on the new babies and we can’t wait to hear more about them as they grow.
