Video: Hammerhead Eats Stingray Next to Swimmers

We love sharks, but this encounter may have been a little too close for comfort.
Last week, two beach goers on the Florida coast were surprised when they realized that they had been splashing around near a large hammerhead shark. A nearby patron of the Silver Beach Towers resort in Destin, FL, was actually able to catch the incident on film.
As seen in the video, the couple in the water were meandering towards the shore until they heard a combination of the filmmaker’s warning calls and the splashes of the shark as it began its pursuit of a stingray. At that point they quickly evacuated the water to reach safety.
Hammerhead sharks are not known for attacking humans, and as you can see, it was clearly more interested in catching the stingray than anything else!
