Think we’re kidding? Think again.

Since launching “A night at home with the bear” in October, the zoo has received an overwhelmingly positive public response and is booked through the end of 2015.

This new trend has taken hold all over the world and we’re super excited about it. Institutions in Canberra, Australia, London and Los Angeles have all started offering these unique “sleepovers”.
Safari-style lodging has become the answer to many zoos and parks’ prayers for updating existing structures and attracting new visitors.

The story of La Flèche zoo is not unlike many other parks and zoos all over the world in that it needed a “boost” of sorts. Since the success of the first lodge, visitor numbers have greatly increased and the zoo now has eight lodges.
But wait, it gets better:
The lodges are designed to mirror the architecture of the environment where that specific animal would naturally live. Therefore, expect Arctic lodges with log fires to observe polar bears, Asian-style lodges surrounded by bamboo and rice-paddies for tiger viewing, and so on and so forth.

“The idea is that visitors feel like they’re in a cocoon suspended in time, totally immersed in the animal environment,” said the zoo’s owner, Stephanie Da Cunha.
So if you’ve got some extra cash and want to splurge for a thrilling night surrounded by wild animals, go for it.
