SeaWorld Rescue Spends New Year’s Rehabilitating Manatee

While most people were getting dressed and ready to party the night away on December 31 for the New Year’s Eve festivities, SeaWorld’s rescue team was in action saving an animal.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission rescued a manatee in Jacksonville and delivered it to the dedicated animal care team at SeaWorld Orlando.

SeaWorld’s expert team sprang into action by giving fluids, antibiotics, and tending to the cold stressed manatee’s sores.

This now makes 14 manatees that SeaWorld rescued in 2014. The rescue team was able to return 8 of the 14 rescued and hopes to return the rest pending federal and state approval.

SeaWorld Orlando works directly with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to rescue and rehabilitate the Florida Manatee and provide lifesaving care.

SeaWorld has rescued, rehabilitated AND returned to the wild over 24,000 animals with over 1,000 of those animals being rescued in 2014.

We want to give our heartfelt thank you to the SeaWorld Rescue team who were caring for a cold stressed manatee while the rest of the world was partying!
