Last month we spotlighted Mystic Aquarium for their inspirational efforts to be a irrefutable force of good on this planet.
The aquarium is home to a variety of marine animals and their elite science and research teams monitor and study those animals to make sense of strandings, illnesses and population concerns in the northeast.
Way to go!
Now, we want to highlight Mystic Aquarium for being a home to a Beluga whale with a dynamic personality.
Check out this adorable video of a Beluga whale playing with a group of young children:
ABC 30 Action News calls it “the whale version of peek-a-boo” and it’s pretty darn awesome.
Children and adults are enthralled when the whale surprises guests by swimming up to the glass and opening its mouth, thoroughly enjoying the kids’ laughter and screams of delight.
The Beluga seems to be finished with the game, turns around as if to swim away, and then darts back, clearly playing with the children.
Encounters like this are what motivate generations of young people to dedicate their lives to ocean conservation and the care of beautiful creatures just like this one. We fully support Mystic Aquarium’s mission and are happy to see young and old inspired to learn more about the world’s oceans.
It’s unfortunate to think about a world where these types of life-changing encounters wouldn’t exist. Do we have to lose it before we care that it’s gone?
Think about it.
